Target Audience Questionnaire Results

Max and I have now sent the questionnaire to a range of people and collated the information.
Due to the people we knew we were able to target a large portion of 16-24 year olds and conveniently as I live in a pub, we were able to hand it out there to willing participants.
This is what we found:

The results collected showed a dominant number of answers from males aged 43+ whereas the 16-24 age range showed an almost equal number.

As preference of genre is largely dependant on preference, our question referring to this showed a variation of answers as well as not many people answering the written part of the question. Assuming not many people would research or know the conventions of their favourite specific genre if they did not do media which is probably why the written section was left blank.

16-24 year olds showed little interest in employing a cover band for a function, it is more popular amongst youths to employ a band who have written and performed their own songs. On the other hand there was a little more interest from the people aged 43+, this is perhaps because they would perform songs they recognise from the past and supports the idea of target audience growing with artists and songs throughout the years.

Past performance and recommendation proved to be the most influential way of deciding which band to employ. The promotional material is still in the pre-production stages and so the people that answered our questionnaire would not see what we have to use as advertising tools.

It is evident that most people would expect promotional material to be of high quality and professional looking and also be a significant influence in their decision making.

The questionnaire revealed that a Motown band would be suitable for a range of venues, particularly wedding and work parties, but not all of the listed possibilities; this answer came from mostly adults whereas the teenagers and young adults were not as confident in answering this question; perhaps as they would be less familiar with the era.

Most people that were surveyed said they would expect the band to be dressed formally for most functions.

Unfortunately the narrative question was left blank, perhaps better wording or a simpler question could have been used as not all people surveyed would have elaborate knowledge of the media industry etc.

The last question was again mostly left blank but some stated that it would probably make the video more interesting and they may watch until the end if it is an interesting storyline within the narrative.
